These jewel-like, little bags are extremely versatile! The perfect accessory for organizing your purse, home, cosmetics . . . or as a gift bag . . . or whatever use you can dream up for these beauties. Made from men’s longyi fabric from Rakhine State, featuring traditional bold geometric designs made from silk and cotton, they come in a wide variety of colors.

Helping Hands Loft is happy to be supporting Phoenix’s initiatives, providing work opportunities with those living with HIV/AIDS.

Our beautiful stuffed animals come from FXB, and we recently partnered with their designers to create a product unique to Helping Hands Loft: a female teddy bear.

Francois-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB) was a helicopter pilot who specialized in rescue operations, and tragically lost his life in 1986 at the age of 24 during a mission in Mali. His mother, Albina du Boisrouvray, decided to honor her son’s memory by creating an organization focused on the things Francois-Xavier was passionate about: humanitarian assistance, HIV/AIDS prevention, and development programs for communities with an emphasis on children.

FXB came to Myanmar in 1992 with a rehabilitation program for 95 young women involved in the Thai sex and trafficking trade. The mission soon grew into a reintegration program – working to equip former sex workers with necessary skills and tools to live a life outside the sex industry.

Today FXB Myanmar works with HIV/AIDS orphans, street and working children, Cyclone Nargis survivors, women workers, people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA), bus and truck drivers,  and families.  For more information about FXB, click here to visit their website.

At Helping Hands your purchases go directly to benefit community initiatives in Myanmar.

Helping Hands Loft is a new shop that directly benefits Myanmar artisans. We partner with organizations whose work supports local initiatives such as healthcare, housing and education. Our vision is to give these craftspeople a way to sell their goods, while channeling the proceeds back into their communities. All profits go directly back to our partners.

Current initiatives we support include:

  • Health groups for mothers and babies
  • Building houses and wells
  • Putting children back in school
  • Employment of street youth
  • HIV/AIDs support and education
  • Support of traditional artisans

Currently in stock we have a beautiful array of textiles, home decor items, furniture, toys, children’s clothing, cards and photography. We’re always getting new things in, so we invite you to come have a look!
